Therapy for individuals and families, with a focus on relationships and recovery. Increasingly in the past several years, my work has focused on supporting adults in recovery and families dealing with relationship challenges and addiction issues. I have also had four years’ training as a therapist and worked for 15 years as a non-profit director/educator with children and adolescents, so I welcome these young people (and their parents!) to my practice as well.
I am continuing my training in Gestalt, which focuses heavily on relational patterns in the present, so I tend to keep a focus on the here and now in sessions. Developmental, psychoanalytic, and attachment theories also strongly inform my work however, so we do explore some of your past to get a sense of how current patterns may have developed. The goal is to increase your awareness of your own perceptions, reactions, true desires, and learned behaviors so that you can have more choice in how you respond to others and begin to take steps that support you to build the relationships and life you really want.
In working with addiction, relational issues, and emotional regulation, I may also use DBT-informed skills and Emotionally Focused Therapy/tapping techniques.
And of course, I bring my humility, humor, and compassion to every session.
