Therapy for individuals, couples, and families, with a focus on relationships, developmental trauma, and addiction. I offer people support to unravel emotional struggles, relational challenges, and addictive patterns, as part of building a more fulfilling life.
My ongoing primary training is in Relational Gestalt Therapy, which focuses on relational patterns in the present. Developmental, psychoanalytic, and attachment theories also inform my work; we do explore some of your past to see how current patterns may have developed. The goal however, is to increase your awareness of your own perceptions, reactions, learned behaviors, and true desires in the moment so you can have more choice in how you respond to others as you build relationships, and make work and life decisions that are better aligned with the person you really want to be.
In working with addiction, relational issues, and emotional regulation, I may also use DBT-informed skills and Emotionally Focused Therapy/tapping techniques and now, EMDR and Brainspotting. This work can be tough! So I also try to bring my humility, humor, and compassion to every session.
Recovery Support. Outside of private practice, I have worked at adolescent and adult addiction treatment centers, providing therapy and supporting families to navigate the best care for addiction treatment services; I am available by phone to support people in other areas as a consultant in the treatment/recovery process.
